These devices include eri (the Ethernet device in the RIO chip) and ge (Gigabit Ethernet), ce (GigaSwift Ethernet), dmfe (10/100 Mbps Ethernet), and vca (Sun Crypto Accelerator 4000). It provides functional test coverage of the devices which have device drivers that support the Ethernet loopback test. Since the loopback module does not contain laser diodes, photodiodes, laser driver or trans impedance amplifier chips, etc., it provides an economical way to exercise the ports during R&D validation, production testing and field testing.The netlbtest replaces the gemtest previously included in SunVTS. Transmit data from the host is electrically routed (internal to the loopback module) to the receive data outputs and back to the host. These loopbacks are packaged in a standard MSA housing compatible with all SFP+/SFP28/QSFP+/QSFP28 ports. The electrical loopback provides a cost effective low loss method for port testing. The 10Gtek passive electrical loopbacks are used for testing transceiver ports in board level test. 10Gtek provides extensive loopbacks on SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+, QSFP28 and QSFP-DD. They are hot pluggable, constructed of metal cast for excellent EMI performance. The electrical passive loopbacks from 10Gtek intend to support Datacom, Infiniband, Fiber Channel applications, which provides a method for port operations testing in board and system.
